MCC hockey gets back on track with win over Erie
The Tribunes move to 8-0 in regional play with the victory.
CHEEKTOWAGA, NY - Coming off a lopsided defeat, the MCC ice hockey teram was looking to make a statement in Tuesday's big regional matchup with Erie Community College.
The Tribunes did just that, skating past the Kats 7-1 at the Cheektowaga Rec Center. The win moved MCC to 8-0 in Region III play and 11-5 overall.
Tyler Underhill (Marilla, NY/St. Francis) finished with two goals and two assists, including a short-handed goal when the Tribunes were down two men. Mike Boyd (Vancouver, BC/Sullivan Herights) added tweo goals and one assist.
Dan Turgeon (Centennial, CO/Cherokee Trail) tacked on a goal and three assists, and John Papas (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) and Dan Going (Wilton, NY/Saratoga Springs) had one goal apiece. Mark Woinicki (Newburgh, NY/John S. Burke) dished out two assists.
Tom Dehr (Varysburg, NY/Batavia Notre Dame) was strong between the pipes, allowing just one goal and stopping 25 Erie shots.
