ROCHESTER - Freshman forward Dominik Gabaj set MCC's single-season record for points as the Tribunes defeated Syracuse 5-4 Wednesday evening to stretch its winning streak to 11 games.
Gabaj tallied a goal and an assist to give him 67 points on the season, besting Aaron Hildreth's previous mark of 66 set during the 2009-2010 campaign. Gabaj also broke the single-season assist mark in January.
Pavel Kuzmin finished with a goal and an assist for the Tribunes (17-1), including the game-winner. Martin Matejcek chipped in with a goal and two assists. Gabaj, Matejcek, and Kuzmin are 1-2-3 in total points in the NJCAA this season.
John Papas and Zach Coughlin tallied Monroe's other goals. Justin Lazalde, Seth Hamilton, Tyler Underhill, Reilly Moore, and Andrew Sanders added one assist apiece.
Jesse Little and Jon Brown split time in goal for MCC, combining to stop 12 shots.
