#17 Tribunes Dominate on the Road, Blank Mohawk Valley 5-0

UTICA, N.Y.  — Monroe Community College women's soccer continued its dominant run with a decisive 5-0 victory over Mohawk Valley Community College on Sunday afternoon.

The Tribunes (8-3-1) outshot the Hawks 31-6 and controlled possession from start to finish, scoring twice in the first half and adding three more after the break to secure the road win.

Freshman forward Julia Engstler led the scoring with a pair of goals, netting goals in the 10th and 89th minutes, while Ariadna Corral Sanch also struck twice and added an assist. Sophomore Sam Cipolla added a goal of her own in the 50th minute off a crisp assist from Corral Sanchez.

Engstler opened the scoring early with a finish assisted by Lillian Boesel, then Corral Sanch doubled the lead before halftime after a setup from Alisia Zagaria. In the second half, Monroe piled on the pressure with 13 more shots, converting three of them to put the game away.

In total, Monroe put 23 of its 31 shots on goal. 

Tribune goalkeeper Celine Gubser earned the shutout with three saves.

Monroe CC also held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Up next, the Tribunes look to carry their momentum into their final stretch of the regular season against Nazareth JV on Thursday at 4 PM from Golden Flyer Stadium.
