ROCHESTER - The MCC women's soccer team clinched home field for the regional championship with a dominating 12-0 victory over visiting Mercyhurst North East Saturday afternoon.
The Tribunes (6-3-2) scored seven times in the first half and quickly turned the game into a rout. Monroe outshot Mercyhurst 36-1 on the day.
Elin Eklund struck twice in the early going to stake MCC to a 2-0 lead. Eleni Markou then scored two times, and Bianey Serrano did as well as the lead ballooned to 6-0.
Emma Krenzer tacked on goal No. 7 in the 35th minute, and Monroe carried that lead into the break.
Markou finished off her hat trick early in the second half to make it 8-0. The freshman also had two assists to cap an eight-point day.
Gabriella Hallnan, Isabella Bushen, Marla Roberts, and Tenysha Taylor added goals down the stretch to complete the scoring for the Tribunes.
Charlotte Collins-Blaize and Bayley Kralik added two assists apiece for Monroe. Caitie Broderick and Kirsten Lane combined for the shutout, with Broderick snagging Mercyhurst's only shot on goal.
