ROCHESTER - The MCC ice hockey team was firing on all cylinders Wednesday, piling up one of the highest single-game goal totals in its history in a 21-0 victory over Mohawk Valley CC.
The 21 goals were one short of the single-game record, set Feb. 15, 2009 against North Country CC. MCC improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Region III play.
Dominik Gabaj followed up last week's five-point debut with an even more impressive performance. The forward from Slovakia tied MCC's single-game record with eight points on four goals and four assists. The mark had been reached four other times, most recently by Aaron Hildreth in 2010.
The Tribunes scored five times in the first period, five more in the second, and tallied 11 goals in the third.
Pavel Kuzmin added three goals and three assists for MCC. Martin Matejcek, Sean Ozment, and Kevin Cortivo all tallied two goals and two assists, and Matt Corey chipped in with two goals and one assist.
Jake Ryan and Jay Croop passed out four assists apiece.
Tom Hanna had a goal and two assists, and Croop, Dorran Masters, Rob Marlinski, Zach Coughlin, and Tyler Underhill added one goal each.
