ROCHESTER - The MCC ice hockey team started the 2012-13 season in style Wednesday, defeating the Syracuse Stampede 6-3 at Bill Grey's Regional Iceplex.
Dominik Gabaj starred in his first game in the Tribune sweater, finishing with five points on two goals and three assists.
Martin Matejcek had two goals and an assist, and Pavel Kuzmin added one goal and one assist for Monroe (1-0), which next hits the ice Oct. 30 for a 7 p.m. home matchup with Region III foe Mohawk Valley.
John Papas also scored a goal, and Jake Ryan added two assists. Tyler Underhill and Daniel Martensson each had a helper as well.
