Monroe Dominates Jamestown in Straight Sets Victory
The Tribunes showcased their dominance with a decisive 3-0 victory over Jamestown Community College.
ROCHESTER, NY - Monroe Community College delivered a commanding performance against Jamestown Community College sweeping the match 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-8) at home. The Tribunes outplayed their opponents in all phases, leading to a dominant win.
Monroe found success across the board. Outside hitter Greyeson McMaster (Elmira, NY) had a standout performance, leading all players with 12 kills and hitting at a blistering .450 clip. McMaster's precision attacking, paired with setter Sydney Martin's (Chittenango, NY) 19 assists, kept Monroe in the driver's seat throughout the match. Martin's setting combined with her two aces also played a critical role in maintaining Monroe's fast pace and keeping Jamestown off balance.
Jamestown's defense couldn't match the firepower of Monroe's offense, and their unforced errors compounded the problem. The Jayhawks only managed nine kills throughout the entire match, with their most productive set being the first, where they posted just five.
Monroe's serving game was a key factor, too, with the team notching 16 service aces. Madalyn Robinson (Attica, NY) was particularly effective behind the service line, recording eight aces herself, contributing heavily to Monroe's ability to build early leads in each set.
Monroe's defensive effort was equally impressive, with strong contributions from Robinson and Angelika Lopez (Catskill, NY), each with 11 digs, neutralizing any attempts Jamestown made to gain momentum. Robinson also showcased her athletic ability, with several of those digs made possible by full splits.
The third set was a statement of Monroe's dominance, as they raced to a 25-8 win, putting the Jayhawks away quickly. Jamestown could not keep up with Monroe's speed and precision.
Overall, Monroe's well-rounded team performance, with contributions from both the offense and defense, propelled them to an overwhelming victory. They will look to build on this momentum during their next WNYAC POD.
