JAMESTOWN, New York - Sophomore center Jaynelle Robinson tallied 30 points and 15 rebounds to lead the top-ranked MCC women's basketball team to a 92-77 win over Jamestown Community College in a WNYAC women's basketball contest Thursday evening.
Robinson was 15-for-22 from the field on her way to a career-high point total for the Lady Tribunes (9-0 WNYAC, 19-1 overall). The game was evenly matched for three quarters, but a 30-10 run in the second stanza was the difference for Monroe.
The win was the 599th in the career of head coach Tim Parrinello. He'll go for No. 600 Saturday at Erie.
MCC led 24-20 after the first quarter before catching fire in the second. The Tribunes shot 55 percent and hit four 3's in the frame to extend the lead to 54-30 at the break. Shalix Hines and Lanay Rodney had seven points apiece in the quarter.
The Jayhawks outscored the Tribunes by nine in the second half, but the lead Monroe had built was too large to overcome.
Hines finished with 17 points, five assists and three steals for MCC. Sierra Green chipped in with 17 points and Rodney added 15 points, seven boards, and four steals.
