Bio
Douglas Heyden Jr. was named Head Coach of the Monroe Community College Swimming and Diving program in the fall of 2025, taking the reins of one of the NJCAA’s most historic and successful programs.
Heyden brings more than a decade of coaching experience to the Tribunes after spending the previous five years as the head coach of Sea Dragons Swim Club in Penfield, New York. Throughout his coaching career, he has helped develop numerous successful student-athletes, including swimmers who earned Top 5 finishes at Section V Class A Championships, Top 10 finishes at the New York State Championships, and Top 5 performances at the Niagara Championships. Several of his athletes have continued their careers collegiately at both the NCAA Division I and Division III levels.
A native of Henrietta, New York, Heyden has lifelong ties to the sport. He spent 16 years competing as a swimmer at the club, high school, and collegiate levels, including time at Rush-Henrietta High School, before continuing his career at Monroe Community College and SUNY Brockport. He graduated from Brockport in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Heyden works in Occupational Therapy at a skilled nursing facility in Brockport, New York. He and his wife, Hannah, reside in Brockport with their twins, Ellie and Jordan, and their cats, Batman and Robin.
