Deja Vu: Monroe Swim and Dive Take Five of Six at Jamestown WNYAC Meet
MCC's swim and dive teams were excellent again, winning five out of six duel meets across men's and women's. After two strong performances on the road put them in good position as they prepare for their home opener.
JAMESTOWN, NY - Monroe CC swim and dive teams were dominant again in their second meet of the season, this time at the Jamestown WNYAC Conference meet, with the women's taking two out of their three duels, and the men sweeping their three. The Tribunes this time took first place in 14 of the 26 events across both individual and relay races.
Starting with the girls, Scarlett Ulatowski (Victor, NY) was a triple event winner for the second straight meet, finishing first in the women's 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, and was the second leg of the 400-yard medley relay. The 200 free was extra impressive considering the race was neck-and-neck until Ulatowski pulled away in the final 15 yards to snatch the victory.
KhaNy Sangasy (Brockport, NY) also won three events with her performances in the women's 100-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, and as the third leg of the 400-yard medley relay.
The 400-yard meldy, which included Ulatowski and Sangasy, not only took first but also put up a national qualifying time, thanks to anchor Peyton Dodge (Canisteo, NY) and a substitute backstroker Elle Reeves (Rush Henrietta, NY).
For the boys, the sprinters in 50-yard freestyle showed out, led by Devon Alderman (Rochester, NY) taking first place with a time of 22.63 and Michael Rose (Walpole, MA) taking third with a time of 23.28.
Henrique Silva-Baltazar (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Rose finished one and two in the men's 100-yard IM, with a time of 58.70 and 59.39 respectively. In the 400-yard IM, Xander De Roos (Borger, Netherlands) and Jonathan Hay (Rochester, NY) finished first and second with a time of 4:45.43 and 5:16.60 respectively.
Micah Stephany (Webster, NY), a triple crown winner in his own right, took first place in the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, and was the anchor in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay win.
That 400 free relay team, led by, Connor Moran (Cicero, NY) and followed by Hay, saw a great come-from-behind performance from Riley Nieman (Manlius, NY) to allow Stephany to take the win for the Tribs, finishing with a final time of 3:54.91.
The divers performed as well, with Quinn Kelstone (Brighton, NY) winning the men's 1-meter diving in his MCC debut. For the women's divers, Nina Alderman (Rochester, NY) won first in women's 1-meter diving with a final score of 148.50.
