Barry selected in first round of MLS SuperDraft
The former Tribune standout also starred at UCF.
BALTIMORE - Former MCC men's soccer star Hadji Barry was selected by the Orlando City Soccer Club in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft on Thursday.
The 13th overall selection, Barry will take his talents to the professional ranks after two successful years at the University of Central Florida.
A 5-foot-11, 160-pound forward, the Greece Olympia High School product starred for the Tribunes during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Barry was part of two Region III championship squads, with the 2012 team finishing third at the NJCAA Division I national tournament.
Barry was a first team All-Region III selection his freshman season and led the Tribunes with 12 goals and 29 points. MCC finished 13-4-1 and defeated Bryant & Stratton for the regional title.
Barry then tallied five goals and nine assists in 2012 as Monroe went 18-1-1, won the Region III championship, and finished third at nationals.
He tallied one goal during his junior season at Central Florida in 2014. Bary then burst onto the national scene this past fall after leading the Knights with 11 goals and 25 points. He was an NSCAA All-East Region second team selection.
Barry competed in the 2016 adidas MLS Player Combine from Jan. 7-12 prior to Thursday's MLS draft.
