BUFFALO - An early-season Region III preview quickly turned into a rout, as the MCC ice hockey team took down rival Erie Community College 9-1 Tuesday evening.
The win moved the Tribunes to 2-0 in regional play and 3-0 overall. Monroe has outscored its opponents 36-4 on the year.
Jon Brown did more than enough to make the MCC lead stand up, stopping 17 of the 18 shots he faced from Erie on the night.
Pavel Kuzmin led the rush with two goals and two assists. Andrew Sanders also scored twice, and Martin Matejcek added a goal and two assists.
Dominik Gabaj, who totaled 13 points in his first two games as a Tribune, chipped in with a goal and an assist. Tyler Underhill, Daniel Martensson, and Jay Croop also found the back of the net for Monroe.
Zach Coughlin added two assists.
