Fripp, Josiah, and Gary are moving on to the Baltimore university.
ROCHESTER - Fresh off a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA Division II national tournament in March, a trio of MCC men's basketball stars are headed to NCAA Division I Coppin State University
Arnold Fripp (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn Collegiate), Jahvari Josiah (Brooklyn, NY/Beach Channel), and Dallas Gary (Buffalo, NY/East High) will take their talents to the Baltimore campus. The Eagles play in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Fripp, a 6-foot-7 forward, averaged a team-high 12.4 points per game while hauling in 5.5 rebounds. He also lead the team in blocks with 2.2 per contest. He scored in double figures 24 times, including a season-high 25 against MCC-Penn Valley at the national tournament.
Josiah, a 6-4 guard, did a little of everything for the Tribunes, averaging 10.1 points along with 4.4 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. He was named to the Region III All-Tournament team after averaging 17 points and shooting 81 percent from the field (13-for-16) as MCC won the regional title.
Gary, a 6-5 guard/forward, scored 11.4 points per game for the Tribunes, hitting double figures 13 times despite missing nine games due to a hand injury. He also averaged 4.7 rebounds per contest. He saved some of his biggest moments for the national tournament, when he averaged 18.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in the four games.
Both Gary and Fripp were named to the All-Tournament team at nationals. MCC finished 32-4.
The three players will join former Tribune Andre Armstrong at Coppin. Armstrong just finished his junior season with the Eagles, averaging 12 points per game.
