Tribunes sweep at home pod tourney

ROCHESTER - The MCC volleyball team swept three matches on its own court in a Region III pod tournament Saturday.

The Tribunes defeated Corning, Tompkins Cortland and Broome to move to 13-3 in regional play and 23-7 overall. Monroe has one more regional match to play - this Wednesday, Oct. 18, at home against Finger Lakes.

Tessa Engel finished with 28 kills, 35 digs, and six aces on the day. Andrea Green added 17 kills, 25 digs, and 19 blocks, while Chelsea Steinruck had 13 kills, 18 digs, and five blocks.

Jessie Blumenfeld dished out 82 assists to go along with 22 digs for Monroe. Cherelle Grant totaled 11 kills and nine blocks, Sam Ashman added 11 digs, and Jala McFadden chipped in with four aces.
