Monroe sweeps Corning, sets new mark

ROCHESTER - The fifth-ranked MCC volleyball team swept Corning Community College in three sets Thursday, and in the process set a new record for wins to start a season.

The Tribunes improved to 19-0 on the season, which tops the previous mark of 18 set in 2012. Monroe has dropped just six sets total in their 19 victories.

Game scores were 25-19, 25-20, 25-18.

Dayle Taber had another big night with 10 kills and three aces.  Chelsey Luce chipped in with five kills and Rose Ayala added four kills and three aces. Candice Greer also had three aces for a sharp Tribune service game.

Montana Vescovi handed out 20 assists and Jessica Jenkins totaled 14 digs for Monroe.
