Tribunes win Jefferson Invitational

WATERTOWN, New York - The MCC volleyball team kicked off the season in style Saturday, sweeping all five matches to win the Jefferson Invitational.

Monroe (5-0) went 3-0 in pool play. The Tribunes opened by defeating Erie CC 25-16, 25-18 before beating Cayuga 25-14, 25-13.

MCC then spotted Onondaga the first game, 27-25, before rallying to take the next two, 25-17, 15-10.

The Tribs took on Jefferson in the semifinals and won 25-16, 25-22. MCC then took the title, cruising past Corning 25-10, 25-12.

Dayle Taber finished the day with 34 kills and 22 digs, while Rose Ayala tallied 27 kills, nine aces, and nine blocks. Chelsey Luce added 22 kills and 14 digs.

Montana Vescovi handed out 94 assists on the tournament. Jessica Jenkins chipped in with 43 digs, and Sarah Graham totaled 10 blocks.
