MCC volleyball falls in regional finals
Despite the loss, the Tribunes finish the season with a school-record 40 victories.
SANBORN, NY – MCC's dream volleyball season came to an end as the Tribunes fell to Jamestown CC in three sets in the Region III, Division III championship match Sunday afternoon.
Monroe finishes the season with a record of 40-5. The 40 wins are by far the most in a single year in the program's history.
The Jayhawks prevailed 25-20, 26-24, 25-20 to win the title and advance to the NJCAA Division III national tournament in Rochester, Minn.
MCC had defeated Niagara County CC 3-0 in the semifinals earlier in the day.
The team went 2-1 in pool play on Saturday to advance to Sunday's action. The Tribunes took two out of three from Herkimer before sweeping three from Erie. MCC then dropped two of three to Jamestown, but still clinched second place in Pool B.
