MCC women increase advantage heading into final day
The Tribunes move their lead to 168 points after Saturday's action.
ROCHESTER - The MCC women's swimming and diving team took a big step toward another regional title with a commanding day at the Region III/Northeast District championship meet Saturday.
The Tribunes have 390 points heading into Sunday. Second-place Jamestwon CC has 222 points.
Katie Hamilton (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) had a big day, winning the 400 IM in 5:07.50. She was also part of two winning relay teams.
The women's 200 medley relay of Kara Mance (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington), Ashley Dubois (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta), Hamilton, and Marguerite Zaepfel (Barker, NY/Barker) placed first in 2:02.26.
The 800 free relay of Hamilton, Amber Landschoot (Phelps, NY/Midlakes), Mance, and Elizabeth Maier (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) won in 8:30.02.
Maier also took first in the 100 fly (1:03.47). Other winners were Dubois in the 100 breast (1:16.76) and Landschoot in the 100 back (1:06.14)
