ROCHESTER - Monroe Community College sophomore Elin Eklund has signed a National Letter of Intent to continuer her academic and soccer careers at the University of Bridgeport.
Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, Eklund had a stellar two-year career with the Lady Tribunes. In 33 games, she totaled 30 goals, 25 assists, and 85 points while leading MCC to a 27-6-3 record, a pair of Region III championships, and a third-place finish at the 2016 NJCAA Division I national tournament.
A two-time first team All-Region selection, Eklund also earned honors at the national level. She was a 2016 first team NSCAA All-American, and a second team selection by United Soccer Coaches in 2017.
Located in Bridgeport, Conn., the Purple Eagles are members of the East Coast Conference and NCAA Division II. Bridgeport went 8-8-2 last season and reached the semifinals of the ECC tournament.
