Monroe routs William Smith JV

ROCHESTER - Bayley Kralik tallied three goals and an assist, Theoni Zerva added a goal and three assists, and the MCC women's soccer team defeated the William Smith JVs 6-0 on DiMarco Field Sunday afternoon.

Next up for the Tribunes (11-2-0) is a meeting with Mercyhurst North East at home next Saturday, Oct. 28.  It is the back end of a home-and-home that will decide the Region III champion.  Monroe won the first meeting 9-0 and will claim the regional title with another victory.

Kralik helped Monroe get on the board in the 17th minute. The sophomore forward threaded a perfect pass to Emma Krenzer, who fired it past the Heron goalie for a 1-0 lead. Kralik then got a score herself in the 26th minute, with Zerva getting the assist.

Zerva and Meghan Carroll tacked on goals in the waning minutes of the first half as the Tribunes took a 4-0 lead into the break.

Kralik then finished off the hat trick by scoring a pair of goals in the second half, with Zerva assisting on both.

Marykate Eckert and Kirsten Lane combined for the shutout for Monroe. Eckert made four saves in just over 54 minutes, while Lane came on to stop two shots down the stretch.

Carroll came up big to turn away William Smith's best opportunity. She was covering the far post on a corner and booted away the scoring chance just before it crossed the goal line.

MCC outshot William smith 21-7 on the game.
