MCC women's 14th straight regional championship
Three different players register hat tricks in an 11-0 win over Mercyhurst.
ROCHESTER – Tournament MVP Ally Sharpe (Brockport, NY/Brockport) finished with three goals and an assist as the MCC women's soccer team won its 14th straight Region III title with an 11-0 win over Mercyhurst North East Saturday.
The Tribunes (15-1) will host the District E tournament next weekend, with a trip to nationals on the line. MCC will take on Monroe College in a semifinal match Saturday. The Mustangs handed the Tribunes their only loss of the season on Aug. 24.

Sharpe scored the game's first three goals to put the Tribunes in control. She didn't register the team's only hat trick, as sophomores Natalie Rogers (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and Ali Campbell (Marion, NY/Marion) each tallied three goals as well. Campbell also dished out four assists and Rogers three of her own.
MCC finished with 31 shots on goal, compared to none for Mercyhurst.
Jessica Riggall (Tully, NY/Tully) and Margaret Doyle (Dublin, Ireland/Loreto College Crumlin) also scored for Monroe.
Chloe Crook (London, England/Holy Family) Paige Buchholz (Greece, NY/Greece Odyssey) combined for the shutout in goal.
MCC coach Sal Galvano was named the Region III Coach of the Year.
