ROCHESTER - The top-ranked MCC women's lacrosse team kicked off the season in style on Saturday, defeating fourth-ranked Harford Community College 19-7 on DiMarco Field.
The Tribunes (1-0), who have won the past four NJCAA national titles, extended their incredible winning streak to 69 games.
Janee DeLuca had a memorable performance in her collegiate debut. The freshman attack totaled five goals and six assists, and her 11 points tied for the third-highest single-game total in program history.
Morgan Hollenbeck chipped in with three goals and an assist, and Dana Isaacs and Christie Hahn added three goals apiece. Adriana Williams scored twice, and Taylor Excell, Kendall Skuse, and Brianna Hendrix all added one goal.
Monroe enjoyed a huge 20-6 advantage in draw controls and in turn dominated possession. Charity Warner had six draw controls, while Isaacs snared five.
Hollenbeck added five ground balls and three draw controls, and DeLuca and Julia Ciavaglia had five ground balls apiece.
The Tribunes outshot the Fighting Owls 43-10 on the game.
