ROCHESTER - MCC broke open a close contest with fifth-ranked Harford CC and went on to an 18-5 victory on DiMarco Field Saturday.
The Tribunes, ranked No. 1 in the nation, improved to 12-0 on the season. Harford is now 6-5.
MCC led 8-4 at the break before outscoring the Fighting Owls 10-1 over the final 30 minutes. Melanie Murphy (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) scored twice and assisted on two other goals in the second half and finished with four goals and three assists on the day.
Keirsten MacLellan (Baltimore, MD/Seton Keough) also scored four goals, and Molly Gray (Gorham, NY/Marcus Whitman) added three goals and an assist. Hannah Barnett (Gorham, NY/Marcus Whitman) had a hat trick as well.
Courtney Reuter (Newark, NY/Newark) finished with two goals and an assist and Courtney O'Hara (Greece, NY/Greece Arcadia) had one goal and one assist. Gabby Farina (Penfield, NY/Penfield) had MCC's other score.
Caitlin Cavallaro (Corning, NY/Corning East) made nine saves in goal.
