No. 1 Tribs cruise past Mohawk
Monroe stays unbeaten with a convincing 23-3 win.
ROCHESTER - The MCC women's lacrosse team continued its dominant start to the season, defeating visiting Mohawk Valley CC 23-3 on John L. DiMarco Field Wednesday.
The Tribunes, who are ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA, are now 8-0. MCC will put its unbeaten record on the line on the road Saturday against No. 2 Onondaga in a rematch of last year's national title game.
Monroe jumped out to a 16-2 lead at the break and cruised from there. Thirteen different players found the back of the cage.
Keirsten MacLellan (Baltimore, MD/Seton Keough) led the way with six goals and an assist for MCC. Elizabeth Lacomb (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) added three goals and one assist, and Alexis Wilensky (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) and Melanie Murphy (added two goals and one assist each.
Brianna Everson (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) also scored twice. Gina Akel (Ogden, NY/Churchville-Chili) added a goal and two assists, and Hannah Barnett (Gorham, NY/Marcus Whitman), Ashley Brandt-Hunter (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) and Molly Gray (Gorham, NY/Marcus Whitman) had one goal and one assist apiece.
Courtney Reuter (Newark, NY/Newark), Courtney O'Hara (Greece, NY/Greece Arcadia), Leia Hayward (Hilton, NY/Hilton), and Tori Williamson (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) added one goal each.
Caitlin Cavallaro (Corning, NY/Corning East) and Alexandra Sportini (Monroe, CT/Masuk) combined to make five saves in goal.
