ROCHESTER - The shots were falling early and often for the MCC women's basketball team Wednesday evening. The result was a convincing, 101-50 victory over Erie Community College in a Western New York Athletic Conference battle.
The Tribunes shot a blistering 68 percent (15-for-22) from the field and opened a 37-10 lead after just 10 minutes of play. Monroe never looked back and improved to 4-1 in WNYAC play and 12-4 overall.
MCC was quick to turn missed shots and turnovers into easy transition buckets. Ball movement was key all game, as the team had 34 assists on 40 made baskets.
Lyrik' Jackson had a huge game to lead the Tribunes. The freshman was 9-for-11 from the floor and scored a career-high 27 points to go along with nine assists and a pair of steals. Samirah Henderson added 20 points and 11 assists, while Kendra Lawton tallied 20 points and six rebounds.
