ROCKVILLE, Maryland - The MCC women's basketball team wrapped up the fall semester with a pair of victories at the Raptors Holiday Tournament at Montgomery College over the weekend.
The Tribunes (8-3) defeated Wake Tech 66-57 on Saturday and host Montgomery 91-63 on Sunday.
Monroe jumped out to a big early lead on Saturday and cruised to the victory. The Tribunes held Wake Tech to 1-for-11 from the field and led 17-4 after the first quarter. MCC had a 17-point lead heading into the fourth and held on for the win.
Lyrik' Jackson led the Tribunes with 16 points while also hauling down six rebounds. Jamiya Eaddy stuffed the stat sheets to the tune of 13 points, seven steals, four assists, and three boards, while Samirah Henderson chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
Another big first quarter was the key on Sunday. Jackson and Kendra Lawton scored nine points apiece as MCC shot 63 percent and raced to a 28-11 lead after 10 minutes.
Jackson once again led the way for Monroe. The freshman scored a game-high 23 to go along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Eaddy was perfect from the field, making all eight shots on her way to 19 points. She also added five assists, four rebounds, and four steals.
