ROCHESTER - Several members of the MCC women's basketball team were honored with All-Region III selections. Highlighting for the Tribunes this season was forward Lanay Rodney was selected to the first team and was also named Player of the Year. Joining her on the first team is guard Sierra Green. Torrie Cash and Jaynelle Robinson were named to the second team while Erica Abitante was made the third team.
Rodney has been an unstoppable force for the Tribunes this season as she has averaged a team-best 18.6 points per game. Along with her point totals, she has been a lockdown defender averaging 2.9 steals per game. She also cleaned it up on the glass averaging 6.6 rebounds per contest.
Green was a key component this year for MCC. She finished second on the team in scoring average at 13.8 and hit almost three 3-pointers per game as well.
Cash and Robinson both made the All-Region second team this year. Cash averaged 11.0 points and 1.9 steals per game. As for Robinson, she averaged 9.8 points per game and was a rebounding beast averaging 9.7. Abitante averaged 10.0 points per game for the Tribunes to earn third-team honors.
MCC looks to build off of their Region III, Division II championship as they advance to NJCAA Division II national tournament, March 21-25, in Harrison Ark.
