BEL AIR, MD - The MCC women's basketball team saw its season come to and end Thursday, as the Tribunes fell 49-33 to ASA College in the District C semifinals.
The Tribunes led 26-23 at the break, but the Avengers took advantage of some poor Monroe shooting to go on an 18-4 run to open the second half. MCC went ice cold over the final 20 minutes, connecting on just 2-of-33 field goal attempts.
ASA outscored Monroe 26-7 in the second half to win going away.
Rayia McKnight (Baltimore, MD/Western) led the Tribunes with 8 points on the day. Tyese Purvis (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) added 6 points and 5 rebounds. Karin Robinson (Queens, NY/Mary Louis Academy) pulled down 10 rebounds, and Donisha Watson (Bronx, NY/Mt. Vernon) and Dionne Coe (Brooklyn, NY/Murry Bergtraum) had 7 boards apiece.
ASA advances to the district championship at 12 p.m. Saturday against host Harford Community College.
