ROCHESTER - Rayia McKnight (Baltimore, MD/Western) led five players in double figures with 16 points as the MCC women's basketball team defeated Genesee CC 88-46 Thursday evening.
The Lady Tribunes moved to 17-4 with the win. Monroe has won 16 consecutive games.
MCC built a 30-point halftime lead, and the outcome was never in doubt. The Tribs recorded 20 steals and forced a total of 25 Cougar turnovers on the night.
McKnight connected on 6-of-10 shots from the field and was 4-for-4 form the charity stripe. Dionne Coe (Brooklyn, NY/Murry Bergtraum) and Tyese Purvis (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) added 15 points apiece.
Tyra Jones (Rochester, NY/East) came off the bench to record a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Karin Robinson (Queens, NY/Mary Louis Academy) had 11 points and seven assists and Donisha Watson (Bronx, NY/Mount Vernon) pulled down 14 rebounds.
MCC outrebounded the Cougars 55-37.
