Tribunes split with Corning

CORNING, New York - The MCC softball team earned a split with Corning Community College in a matchup of two of the top teams in Region III on Saturday.

The Tribunes (9-1 region, 15-7 overall) won the first game 5-1 before the Red Barons rebounded to take the nightcap 14-10.

Tied at 1 heading to the top of the fifth, the Tribunes put up three runs to take control. Maria Marcera led off with a single and came around on a double by Vicky Adkins. Terlaje then plated another run on a base hit, and the final score came via a double steal.

Marcera, Adkins, Terlaje, and Jen Newell all had two hits on the game.

The Tribunes jumped out to a 7-3 lead in game two, but Corning rallied with three runs each in the third, fourth, and fifth to get the win.
