ROCHESTER - The MCC softball team took on the visiting Hawks from Mohawk Valley on Saturday afternoon. The Tribunes dropped both games of the doubleheader, moving their record to 3-11 on the season.

In game one, the Hawks prevailed in eight innings by the score of 5-4. Monroe was highlighted by the play of outfielder Colby Kidder and infielder Jenny Pearl. The freshman duo each drove in a pair of runs for the Tribunes in a back-and-forth game.

Also scoring runs for MCC were Jayme Lema, Vicky Adkins, and Jen Maysuch. Maysuch started the game on the mound, pitching two innings with no runs allowed and one strikeout.

Bri Wagner replaced Maysuch in the third and struck out three.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Julia Grace led the way for the team as she had two hits and drove in one. Adkins also played a role in the contest as she drove in two.

Adkins' two-RBI hit tied things up in the fifth and then Grace drove in another run as MCC took a one-run lead. The Tribunes would eventually surrender the lead in the bottom half of the inning.

Larissa Brower started on the mound and struck out four opposing batters. Andrea Giuliano came in during the fifth inning and replaced Brower.

MCC lost a close game by a score of 7-5.

The Lady Tribunes next game will be on April 18 as they play a doubleheader against Jefferson CC. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
