Softball players earn postseason honors
The team has three All-Region and four All-WNYAC performers.
ROCHESTER - The MCC softball team had three players named All-Region III and four named All-Western New York Athletic Conference following the conclusion of the 2012 season.
The Tribunes finished the year with a 29-18 record. The team reached the finals of the Region III tournament.
Infielder Natasha Kersch (Warsaw, NY/Warsaw), outfielder Dominique Mantell (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls), and pitcher/infielder Nicole Clements (Palm Desert, CA/Palm Springs) earned second team All-Region honors.
Kersch led the team with a .455 batting average and 71 hits. Mantell bit .441 with 17 doubles, six triples, and four homers. Clements had a 16-3 record on the mound along with a 0.71 ERA. She also batted .396.
Clements and Kersch were named first team All-WNYAC. They were joined by infielder Elissa Longley (Pulaski, NY/Pulaski), who hit .446 with four home runs and a team-high 61 RBIs.
Mantell was named to the second team.
