ROCHESTER - The MCC softball team continued its unbeaten run through regional play, defeating Jamestown-Olean 17-3 and 11-2 Tuesday afternoon.
The Tribunes (14-12) improved to 14-0 in Region III, Division III action.
Monroe scored all of its run in two innings in the opener, tallying nine in the first inning and eight in the fourth. MCC worked out eight walks in the first alone and drew 11 bases on balls on the game.
Jenna Clarke (Brockport, NY/Brockport) finished 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs for the Tribunes. Morgan Simmons (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) added three hits, two runs, and two RBIs and Angela Sims (Geneva, NY/Geneva) drove in three.
Taylor Grieger (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) improved to 7-1 on the season, allowing three runs (two earned) and five hits while striking out eight.
Another big frame was the highlight in the nightcap, as MCC scored all 11 runs in the third inning. Joanna Bardak (Amherst, NY/Amherst) drove in four runs with a two-run double and a two-run homer. Fourteen batters came to the plate in the frame.
Clarke had a two-run double in the third, and Sims finished the day 2-for-3. Alexis Haley (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) added a two-run single.
Aldyn Carlson (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk) got the win on the hill, allowing two runs and three hits while striking out six.
MCC has won its last 10 games via the mercy rule.
