Monroe men take first at Invite
The Tribunes outdistance five other colleges.
ROCHESTER, NY - The MCC men's swimming and diving placed first at their own invitational Saturday afternoon.
The Tribunes won the title with a team score of 621. Runner-up Genesee had 233, followed by Jamestown (213), Alfred State (131), Herkimer County (83), and Mercyhurst North East (21).
Kevin Burns (Ravena, NY/RCS) won three events, taking first in the 200 free (1:46.03), 200 back (1:59.00), and 200 IM (2:00.46).
Tore Hansen (Skoutianten, Denmark/Handelsskolen) placed first in the 1650 free (17:28.95) and the 500 free (4:56.59), and Kyle Shares (victor, NY/Victor) won the 1-meter (264.90) and 3-meter (272.17) diving events.
Other winners included Tyler Webster (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) in the 100 back (56.76), Gaitan Gehin (Lausanne Switzerland/Gymnase August Piccard) in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.84), Brandon Sears (Corning, NY/Corning East) in the 50 free (22.73), and Connor Kilmer (auburn, NY/Auburn) in the 100 free (50.35).
