Monroe men finish first, women second at MCC Invite
The Tribune men finish strong to cap a wire-to-wire victory.
ROCHESTER – The Monroe Community College men's swimming and diving team earned a wire-to-wire victory at the 2012 MCC Invitational.
The Tribunes finished the weekend with a team score of 672. Runner-up Buffalo state finished with 404.
The Bengals turned the tables on Monroe on the women's side, finishing first with a score of 617.5. MCC was second at 392.5.
Gaitan Gehin (Lausanne, Switzerland/August Piccard) capped a fantastic weekend with a win in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.44). He won three individual events and was part of a pair of winning relay teams.
Other winners from men's action on Sunday was Tyler Webster (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) in the 200 back (2:09.33), Connor Kilmer (Auburn, NY/Auburn) in the 100 free (49.72), and Kyle Shares (Victor, NY/Victor) in three-meter diving (251.35).
On the women's side, Katie Hamilton (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) picked up another victory, placing first in the 1650 freestyle in 19:24.52.
