Monroe men lead after day one of MCC Invite
The Tribune ladies are in second heading into the weekend.
ROCHESTER – The Monroe Community College swimming and diving teams hosted day one of the MCC Invitational Friday evening.
The Tribune men are in first place with 193 points and hold a healthy 104-point lead over second-place Buffalo State after eight events. The Monroe women are second with 104 points and trail only Buffalo State.
Kevin Burns (Ravena, NY/RCS) took first in the 500 free in 4:55.50 for the Tribs. Other winners were Gaitan Gehin (Lausanne, Switzerland/August Piccard) in the 200 IM (2:02.33), Brandon Sears (Corning, NY/East) in the 50 free (22.95), and the 400 medley relay team of Tyler Webster (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman), Gehin, Burns, and Connor Kilmer (Auburn, NY/Auburn) in 3:47.00.
On the women's side, first-place finishes went to Kara Mance (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) in the 500 free (5:42.59), as well as the 400 medley relay team of Amber Landschoot (Phelps, NY/Midlakes), Ashley Dubois (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta), Elizabeth Maier (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), and Katie Hamilton (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) in 4:28.38.
