MCC wins tri-meet with Mercyhurst and Alfred
Both the Tribune men and women come away with a pair of victories.
ROCHESTER – The MCC swimming and diving teams earned two more regional victories apiece Wednesday, taking first in a tri-meet with Alfred State and Mercyhurst North East.
The Tribune men defeated Mercyhurst 114-14 and Alfred 117-46. The Monroe ladies topped Mercyhurst 109-52 and Alfred 113-28.
Sam Rice (Fairport, NY/Fairport) had two wins to pace the MCC men. The freshman touched first in the 50 free (23.09) and the 100 breaststroke (1:07.05).
Other double winners were Gaitan Gehin (Lausanne, Switzerland/August Piccard) in the 200 IM (2:00.52) and 100 fly (57.09), Tore Hansen (Skoutianten, Denmark/Zealand) in the 200 free (1:52.36) and 100 free (51.90), and Kyle Shares (Victor, NY/Victor) in 1-meter (244.65) and 3-meter (224.15) diving.
Other winners included Kevin Burns (Ravena, NY/RCS) in the 500 free (5:04.63) and Tyler Webster (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) in the 100 back (58.80)
The women had a trio of triple winners leading the way. Amber Landschoot (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) took first in the 50 free (27.18) and 100 free (59.51), while Katie Hamilton (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) won the 200 IM (2:27.21) and the 500 free (5:37.60).
Alaiya Tuntemeke (South Lima, NY/Livonia) rounded out the double winners with victories in 1-meter (199.25) and 3-meter (178.50) diving.
Ashley Dubois (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) touched first in the 100 breast in 1:16.07.
