MCC swimmers sweep Jamestown
The Tribunes win every event in the regional victory.
ROCHESTER – The MCC swimming and diving teams opened the regional portion of their schedule with a sweep of Jamestown Community College Wednesday night.
The women prevailed 134-60, while the men won 134-40. The Tribunes placed first in every event on the evening.
A trio of double winners paved the way for the ladies. Katie Hamilton (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) touched first in the both the 1650 free (19:57.38) and the 200 fly (2:38.39), while Elizabeth Maier (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) won the 200 IM (2:24.76) and the 100 free (58.20).
Alaiya Tuntemeke (South Lima, NY/Livonia) rounded out the double winners with victories in 1-meter (212.30) and 3-meter (199.45) diving.
Other winners included Amber Landschoot (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) in the 50 free (27.38), Ashley Dubois (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) in the 200 breaststroke (2:48.77), Allyson Stewart (Owego, NY/Owego Free) in the 200 free (2:19.12), Jennifer Bade (Gananda, NY/Gananda) in the 200 back (2:31.84), and Kara Mance (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) in the 500 free (5:52.67).
Kevin Burns (Ravena, NY/RCS) was a double winner for the second straight meet for the men, winning the 200 IM (2:02.39) and the 200 back (2:05.02). He was joined by Gaitan Gehin (Lausanne, Switzerland/August Piccard) in the 200 free (1:52.99) and the 200 breast (2:18,86), and Kyle Shares (Victor, NY/Victor) in 1-meter (259.40) and 3-meter (239.49) diving.
Andrew Cotter (Medina, NY/Medina) also won twice, placing first in the 1650 free (18:44.30) and 500 free (5:16.12).
Other winners included Samuel Rice (Fairport, NY/Fairport) in the 50 free (23.30), Arshia Zarei (Fairport, NY/Fairport) in the 200 fly (2:29.59), and Connor Kilmer (Auburn, NY/Auburn) in the 100 free (49.98).
