MCC's Eric Longhorn was named a second team NJCAA All-American.

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - MCC men's soccer player Eric Longhorn was announced as a second team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association on Thursday afternoon.

The honor caps an incredible freshman campaign for the defender from Hull, England. Longhorn was also named the NJCAA Region III Player of the Year after helping lead the Tribunes to a 9-5-1 record and the regional championship.

Longhorn spearheaded a defense that was among the best in the nation this season. He led a backline that ranked in the Top 10 in fewest goals allowed (11) as well as goals against average (0.72). His presence was a big part of a six-game winning streak during the middle portion of the schedule in which the Tribunes did not allow a goal.

The team had eight shutouts total on the season.
