Tribunes, Cougars draw in season opener.

BATAVIA - The MCC men's soccer team opened the 2016 season by playing to a 2-all tie with host Genesee Community College Wednesday evening.

Vasbert Harry and Anthony Paris scored for the Tribunes (0-0-1), while keeper Marco De Lauri came up with nine saves.

Harry got Monroe on the board in the eighth minute, scoring off a feed from Lucas Egan. The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Tribunes into the locker room.

Genesee tied it up on a penalty kick in the 55th minute.

Paris then came through with his first collegiate goal in the 72nd minute as MCC reclaimed the lead. Adrian Minott assisted on the play.

The Cougars rallied again, however, and came through with the equalizer in the 80th minute.

The contest remained that way over the final 10 minutes of regulation, as well as through two overtime sessions.
