MCC tops Southern Maryland on Homecoming
The Tribunes move to 12-0 with the victory.
ROCHESTER – The MCC men's soccer team made it a dozen wins without a defeat, beating the College of Southern Maryland 4-0 Saturday as part of Monroe's Homecoming weekend.
The fourth-ranked Tribunes (12-0) scored a pair of goals in the first half and two more in the second to come away with the win.
Fernando Meza (Miami, FL/Miami Beach) stopped five CSM shots for the shutout.
Juan Colorado (Brooklyn, NY/FDR) got Monroe on the board in the 27th minute, converting a pass from Ngwese Ebangwese (Rochester, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) for a 1-0 lead.
Shane McInerney (Ballinosloe, Ireland/Athlone) then made it 2-0 in the 35th minute, tapping in a header from Seamus Sharkey (Newtown, Ireland/St. Eunans) on a play that started near midfield with a pass from Gianluca Cuomo (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena).
Ebangwese and Mohamed Wally (Jersey City, NJ/Ferris) added second-half goals for MCC. Cuomo finished with two assists and Daniel Tesoro (Brisbane, Australia/Endeavour) had one.
