Tribunes rout Mohawk Valley in regular season finale

MCC Men's Lacrosse

ROCHESTER - It was banner day for the MCC men's lacrosse team as the Tribunes wrapped up the regular season against Mohawk Valley Community College Tuesday afternoon on rainy DiMarco Field. Monroe scored early and often in a 33-3 rout in which a number of records were almost reached, tied, or broken altogether.

Mitchell Summers equaled the MCC single-game mark with nine goals to pace a relentless attack that outshot the Hawks 60-16. Monroe led 9-2 after the first quarter and 21-3 at the half before holding Mohawk Valley scoreless over the final 30 minutes.

The 33 goals scored by the Tribunes also tied the single-game team mark, which was set last week in a win over Finger Lakes. MCC finishes the regular season at 5-5 and now awaits postseason seeding.

Brett Cunningham had an incredible day as well, accounting for six goals and nine assists. The 15 total points were second-most in program history, as were the nine helpers.

To top it off, Tucker Hill won 31-of-38 faceoffs and set a new Tribune standard with 27 ground balls.

Cruz Mayberry and Anthony Kimber finished with four goals and three assists apiece, and Adam Williams added four goals and two assists. Reed Perestam chipped in with three goals and three helpers.

Hill, Adam Phelan, and Adam Witscheber all had one goal each. Witscheber also scooped up 10 ground balls. Benjamin Rotenberg allowed just three goals while stopping eight shots.
