MCC takes down Jefferson for fifth straight

ROCHESTER - The MCC attack continued to click on Saturday, and the result was another huge victory.

Brandon Barnhart and Zack DeFazio had six goals apiece, Nick Kallio set the single-game assist mark for the second straight contest, and the Tribunes men's lacrosse team cruised to a 26-2 victory over Jefferson Community College. The win was the fifth straight for Monroe (5-1).

Kallio finished with four goals and a record 10 assists. That broke the previous record of nine, which he set on Wednesday against Finger Lakes. His 14 points were one short of the single-game mark.

MCC led just 3-1 after the first quarter before pouring it on in the second. Six different players scored as Monroe outscored Jefferson 9-0 in the frame to take a 12-1 lead into the locker room at the half.

Two of the goals were man-up goals, with both scores coming within six seconds of the start of the penalty.

The Tribunes then outscored the Cannoneers 9-0 again in the third to put the game out of reach. DeFazio had four consecutive goals to highlight the quarter.

TJ Day added five goals and three assists and Jared George had three goals and one assist for MCC. Reed Perestam chipped in with a goal and three assists and Patrick Brewer tacked on one goal.

Mark Campbell made nine saves in the cage.
