Tribunes roll past Jefferson

WATERTOWN, New York - The MCC men's lacrosse team traveled north on Route 81 on Saturday afternoon where they cruised to a 15-3 victory over Jefferson CC in a Region 3 battle at General Brown High School.

The Tribunes got off to a slow start offensively, missing on multiple scoring opportunities, but still managed a 3-1 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Led by Hudson Weil, who scored 5 goals and assisted on another, the Tribunes were able to increase their lead to four going into halftime with a score of 7-3.

The second half was all Monroe as they tacked on five goals in the third and three goals in the fourth to finish off the Cannoneers.

There were five other Tribunes who got in on the scoring action, and all five finished with two goals apiece in what was a very balanced offensive game for Monroe. Nick Kallio finished with two goals and three assists, Jake Moss and David Lehman each tallied two goals and two assists, Austin Jobson finished with two goals and one helper and Patrick Brewer added a pair of goals. Monroe scored their 15 goals on 47 total shots.

Richard Scacchetti had a team high nine ground balls, while Ryan Boadway added eight. Scacchetti, the lone faceoff man for the Tribunes, had a great performance, winning 17 of 20 total faceoff opportunities.

Mark Campbell finished with 15 saves on the afternoon.

The Tribunes have a quick turnaround as they host Herkimer College on Sunday, April 9 at 2:30 p.m. at John L. DiMarco Field.
