ROCHESTER - The MCC men's lacrosse team spotted Finger Lakes the first two goals before rebounding for a 14-9 victory over the Lakers in a Region 3 clash Wednesday evening.
Jake Moss scored two goals and assisted on another as the Tribunes (3-2) went on a 5-0 run to wipe out the early deficit. Finger Lakes closed to within one at the end of the first, but Monroe then outscored the Lakers 5-2 in the second to take a four-goal lead into the break.
Austin Jobson scored all three of his goals in the second stanza as the Tribunes took control. Nick Kallio and Hudson Weil added man-up goals during the frame. Monroe converted four out of six man-up opportunities on the game.
Weil scored twice more in the third quarter and finished the game with four goals and an assist. Jobson had three goals and two assists, while Moss totaled two goals and five helpers.
Finger Lakes had 21 giveaways on the game, while Monroe had just eight. The Tribunes held a 53-28 edge in total shots.
Mark Campbell stopped eight shots in goal for MCC.
