ROCHESTER - The MCC men's lacrosse team earned its first victory of 2017 in convincing style Saturday, defeating visiting SUNY Broome 25-10 on DiMarco Field.
Hudson Weil had a huge afternoon for the Tribunes (1-2). The sophomore attack finished the day with seven goals and four assists. His goal total was the most by a Monroe player since current assistant coach Brian Moran scored that many against Northern Virginia on March 30, 2015.
Jake Moss finished the game with four goals and two assists for MCC. Two of the scores came in early as Monroe jumped to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter.
Patrick Brewer scored twice as the lead increased to 11-4 at the half. Monroe then put the game away by tallying seven times in the third to take a commanding lead.
Nick Kallio finished with five goals and two assists and Brewer had three goals and two helpers for Monroe. Austin Jobson and David Lehman added two goals apiece, and Brandon Barnhart and Richard Scacchetti scored once each.
Mark Campbell made 13 saves in three quarters of action for the Tribunes. Drew Preston stopped one Hornet shot over the final 15 minutes. Scacchetti had a team-high nine ground balls, while Cody Matteson and Ryan Boadway picked up five each.
