ROCHESTER - The MCC men's lacrosse team ran its winning streak to three games with a 16-4 victory over Mercyhurst North East on DiMarco Field Wednesday.
The fifth-ranked Tribunes improved to 4-2 on the season. Up next is a game at No. 8 SUNY Delhi Saturday.
MCC scored five unanswered goals in the first quarter to take control. Tyler Martin (Central Square, NY/Central Square) opened the scoring with a goal 1:38 in, and then closed the quarter with another score with 1:41 left to make it 5-0.
That was all the scoring goalie Alex Howell (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) and the Monroe defense would need. Howell finished the day with 13 saves.
The Tribunes led 8-2 at the break and 12-4 after three quarters en route to the win.
Martin and Kori Halftown (Cattaraugus Reservation/Gowanda) registered four goals and two assists each. Mitch Smith (Hilton, NY/Hilton) added three goals and one assist, and Kyle Youngmann (Hilton, NY/Hilton) chipped in with two goals and two assists.
Sean Biggie (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) tallied a goal and two assists and Lindsey Pound (Henderson, NY/Immaculate Heart) also scored. Ethan Printy (Irondequoit, NY/Eastridge) added one goal and one assist, won 13-of-14 faceoffs, and had 12 ground balls.
