ROCHESTER - Tyler Underhill (Marilla, NY/St. Francis), Mike Boyd (Vancouver, BC/Sullivan Heights), and Dan Turgeon (CEntennial, CO/Cherokee Trail) all had two goals apiece as the MCC ice hockey team defeated Mercyhurst U. 9-0 Wednesday.
The win was the fifth in a row for the Tribunes, who are now 17-7 on the season. MCC has one more tune-up - Friday, Feb. 15 against Rochester Senior AAA - before next weekend's national tournament on its home ice.
Tom Dehr (Varysburg, NY/Batavia Notre Dame) notched the shutout in goal, coming up with 27 saves.
Tim Young (Chili, NY/Aquinas) got MCC on the board in the first before Boyd added a short-handed score to make it 2-0. Andrew Sanders (Bakersfield, CA/Liberty) and Boyd then added goals in the second period to make it 4-0 heading into the third.
Underhill and Turgeon each tallied twice in the final period, and Corey Kifner (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore West) finished out the scoring.
