Tribunes cruise past Mohawk
The top-ranked Tribunes score six times in the first period.
ROCHESTER – Andrew Sanders (Bakersfield, CA/Liberty) had a hat trick to lead the MCC hockey team to a 13-1 win over visiting Mohawk Valley CC Wednesday night.
The top-ranked Tribunes improved to 8-2 overall and6-0 in Region III play.
Sanders scored hit first with 1:05 left in the opening period as Monroe jumped out to a 6-0 lead after 20 minutes. He tallied his second score early in the second, and finished off the hat trick later in the period.
Mark Woinicki (Newburgh, NY/John S. Burke Catholic) assisted on all three goals by Sanders. Woinicki finished the night with a goal and four assists.
Tomas Busek (Beroun, Czech Republic/Manazerska) and Brandon Kirchens (Wheeling, IL/Wheeling) chipped in with two goals and an assist each for MCC. Taylor Weilert (Rochester, NY/National Sports Academy) added a goal and two assists.
Matt Anticoli (Buffalo, NY/Frontier), Ben Paige (Fair Haven, NY/Edwardsville), Corey Kifner (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore West), and Tyler Underhill (Marilla, NY/St. Francis) all added goals. Jake Commeau (Manteca, CA/Manteca) dished out three assists.
Andrew Barletta (Phoenix, AZ/Centennial) stopped 10 shots in goal.
