Late goal lifts Maksymum past Monroe
Power play goal hands Monroe a loss in its season opener
ROCHESTER –The Maksymum Junior A team scored the game-winning goal on the power play with 3:13 remaining to defeat MCC 2-1 in Monroe's season opener Wednesday evening.
The Tribunes (0-1) are off until Oct. 30, when they travel to Utica to take on Mohawk Valley CC in a regional contest.
Corey Kifner (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) scored MCC's lone goal on a power play in the first period. Mike Boyd (Vancouver, BC/Sullivan Heights) and Tyler Underhill (East Aurora, NY/Southwestern) assisted on the play.
Tom Dehr (Varysburg, NY/Batavia Notre Dame) made 28 saves in goal.
